Dear XXXXXXX I write to inform you that I am continuing the public campaign to reverse the decision to close the Clissold Park animal enclosures, and paddling pool. Urban Policy Division has informed me that the animal enclosure and paddling pool are to remain open and funded by sponsorship. Personally I find this unacceptable! I've been shown no coherent strategy. The funding for these valuable community resources must be incorporated into the parks main stream budget. It is for this reason that I will continue to campaign. I have seen letters from David Lambert stating Clissold park is eligible for a substantial (75%) grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, They have openly stated they'd welcome an approach from the council. Again, I can only reiterate the fact that I find the handling of this issue most distressing. I can't believe Hackney Council can neglect its responsibility to look after its own animals in this way. These facilities are our parks greatest asset. They will generate income to the park Cafe when it finally re-opens, and also draws revenue to local businesses. Yours sincerely, XXXXXXXX |
